I have been wanting to implement some sort of "mommy pre-school" with Cason for a long time. I've just been lacking the time to sit down and come up with ideas, but yesterday I found an AMAZING resource. This lady has shared many of her ideas for the pre-school she does with her kiddos.
Check out her blog! It's pretty awesome!
So, having this as a place to start is great. I've pulled ideas from her units and added to them. So, here's to starting Mommy Pre-school. I thought blogging about it would be a fun way to document what we do. Gosh I hope I can keep it up and not drop the ball!
This week our focus is on trees.
Monday
We went to the library and checked out a lot of books. I had looked up all the titles and made a list of the call numbers at home prior to going, so it was easy to collect all the books with a toddler in tow. It took us about 10 minutes to find them all and then Cason was free to play with the kitchen and puppets that our library has.
After his nap, oh wait ... he got in and out of his bed during the hour he was supposed to be napping. Ok, so after his attempted nap, we went to his play room and read 2 books about trees.
While reading, I asked Cason to identify the color of the leaves on the trees. I also introduced vocabulary words such as trunk, leaves, and branches.
When we were finished reading the books, we went and made a seasons tree. I prepared all of the supplies while he was in his room. This made the project so much easier!
The finished product!
