2012 in Review

2012 was beyond wonderful!

In January, we got to hear Cason heartbeat for the first time on my 27th birthday. The next day I announced to my school that I was pregnant by stuffing a balloon in my shirt and attaching it to an e-mail. This picture makes me really miss my team!

February took us to Buenos Aires, Argentina.  It was our last trip without kids to "worry" about. We were there over Valentine's Day which was really special.

We found out that we were having a BOY in March!

My class actually predicted correctly!
April and May were my last 2 months to teach.  I spent these months thoroughly enjoying my Carroll family.

AJ and I went to visit his family in June.  We also went to the Edward Jones Summer Regionals at Horse Shoe Bay in Marble Falls.

(I managed to not get any pictures over both weekends.)

July was full of Baby Showers!
Family & Friends Shower
Edward Jones Shower
August . . . CASON was BORN!!!  We also sold our house the day we brought him home!

Six weeks later, in September, we moved.  Moving with a 6 week old wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.  AJ was AMAZING!  He did so much on his own and never complained once.

October was very busy!!!  *Settling into our new home  *Went on our first trip to Waco with Cason to celebrate my dad's retirement  *Went to Jessica's wedding shower in Waco that same weekend.  *Visiting the Pumpkin Farm *Annual Halloween party at the Webb's house.

In November, we flew to North Carolina for Thanksgiving with AJ's family.

And then came December ... oh how busy busy busy this month always seems to get. Some of the highlights ... *Hosting Jessica's couples shower at Katie's house  *5th Annual Progressive Dinner  *Purchased 2 acres in Prosper for our future home  *Edward Jones Christmas party  *mini-trip to Waco just for fun  *Our first Christmas with Cason  *Going to Waco for Christmas

These past few months were quite eventful and I'm looking forward to things slowing down for a while now. 2012 was full of blessings and I am very thankful for each one of them.

side note ... writing this post made me realize that there are a lot of pictures I need to get from my mom.

100 Kisses ...

Cason has continued to bring us so much joy!  How could he not!?  This boy easily gets over 100 kisses from us everyday!  Even thought it wasn’t that long ago, it’s hard to imagine what life was like without him.

Today I learned that Cason likes to dance!  After one of his naps, I turned on the radio in his room and we danced to the new Justin Bieber song, Beauty and a Beat. Cason thought it was hilarious!  He smiled and laughed so much.  We had A LOT of fun being silly and dancing all around his room.  I wish I could have gotten a picture of his huge smile.  I can’t wait to see if he gets a kick out of it tomorrow too!

We also gave rice cereal another try today.  The first time Cason tried cereal was on Christmas Eve and he just pushed it around with his tongue.  We tried a couple more times the week of Christmas and then decided to give him a couple weeks to mature a little bit more.  He has been reaching out for our food occasionally and is showing more interest in what we’re eating. He has also been putting anything and everything in his mouth!  If he’s holding it … it’s in his mouth!  So, we thought he might be ready to give the cereal another try.  Boy, were we right!  He opened his mouth up each time I put the spoon by his mouth.  When I put the spoon in his mouth he sucked on it.  He of course made a big mess and did push some of it out of his mouth, BUT I’d say he ate the majority of it!  Now, since cereal is supposed to help babies sleep better, the big question is … how long will he sleep before waking up to eat.  I’ve continued to feed him between 10:00-11:00 just before I go to bed each night (aka the dream feed).  This is something I’m thinking about giving up soon, but right now I’m not ready to conquer another milestone or rock the boat with his sleep.  I am finally able to get adequate sleep.  Dropping the dream feed makes me worried that he’ll start waking at weird times during the night … not ready for that again. So, we'll continue with the dream feed and drop it when mommy is ready.
